The Golden Fruit Table Lamp
India

Mango is the emperor of fruits. It makes an appearance in all its glory at the beginning of the Indian summer, the heralding of a new year as per the Indian calendar. Here the shape, form and golden glow of a certain variety is represented as a crystalline jewel, fit for an Emperor. There is nothing cerebral or intellectual about this depiction. Created at the beginning of summer, it is a loving tribute to the ‘Golden Safeda’ variety of North India as well as an abstract referencing of the traditional Paisley patterns of representation of mangoes.
