The Kasa Lamp Table Lamp
Japan

Kasa is the Japanese word for ‘Parasol’. The traditional collapsible oil-coated paper umbrella was first invented in China around the 1st Century CE. Its surprising robustness and beauty caused it to spread to Japan, Korea, S-E Asia and even India. In Japan old umbrellas became imbued with spirits called Kasa-Obake, which literally translates to ‘Bulky Aunty’! Our version is not made from oil-coated paper but goat-hide leather. We promise it will last nearly forever, even longer than the traditional Kasas, with enough time for a spirit aunty to inhabit it!
